Two days after Chad and I met we went to Bath and Stonehenge for the day. It was an unbelievable, fascinating experience. I got to see one of the true miracles of the world and Jane Austen’s house in the same day. It definitely was a day I will always remember. However, the real crazy part of that day happened that evening. Chad and I had stepped off the bus and decided to go get some Chinese food for dinner when my cell phone rang and it was Meghan inviting us to meet Maureen and her at O’Neil’s down in Piccadilly Circus. So Chad and I agreed to meet them there after our dinner. After all Chad was curious to meet my friends for the first time.

Well we got down there and finally inside after waiting on line for a half and hour to find Maureen and Meghan completely trashed. I mean REALLY trashed. Meghan was dancing on tables when I got there and Maureen was going up to guys on the dance floor and pulling on their belts to make them come out on the dance floor and dance with her. Let’s just say she was coming on really strong to these guys. They were staring at her and laughing unsure what to do. Chad and I just looked at each other and shrugged realizing that we would be on babysitting duty that night obviously.

The night continued to get worse because I was running after the two of them trying to make sure nothing bad happened as Meghan began pole dancing and Maureen was walking around spilling more of her drink than actually drinking it. Finally we decided it was time to go home. The girls however, were not happy with this decision, particularly Maureen. As we were walking out of the club Maureen leaned over to the dj and asked him to play her a song. He said that he had already taken the last requests for the evening, so in an angry temper tantrum she leaned over and pushed all his cds on the floor and started pushing his buttons on his keyboard. A security guard came running over, Chad quickly intervened and promised the guard that we were escorting her out.

Then as we were nearing the door a girl bumped into Maureen spilling some of her drink on her. Maureen started screaming at her telling her to fuck off. The girl then proceeded to dump her entire beer on Maureen’s shirt. Maureen was now flipping out screaming out how much she wanted to go home. So we got her outside and we were trying to hightail it down to the Piccadilly tube stop because it was closing down soon. We were holding her hand and walking in a line as Maureen continued crying in her drunken state that she wanted to go home. Meghan was trying to calm her down saying “We are going home sweetie.” And Maureen was now screaming at the top of her lungs in Piccadilly Circus, “No to America!! I hate London!!” Chad was now trying to really push us along realizing that this was not really the best place for this outburst with the current state of politics in the world.

We were finally right outside of the tube stop and trying to push through the crowds outside the entrance when some random guy reached down and grabbed my crotch, he then leaned in and breathed his drunken breath in my face and said, “hey baby want to give me a blow job?” I was in shock. Finally I regained my composure and said, “No, no blow jobs tonight,” and yanked the guy’s arm away. Chad came up behind me and asked if I was alright. I said I was and was just dealing with yet another drunken fool. The crazies were definitely out tonight.

We finally got into the entrance of the tube station. The place was crazy as everyone was racing to make the last tube of the night. We got on the steep escalator down to the tracks. I was standing next to Maureen on one step and Chad and Meghan were on the stair behind us. Meghan’s cell phone began to ring and she fumbled to answer it seeing that it was her fiancé Josh. She then dropped the phone and it began bouncing down the steps. Maureen leaned over to reach for it and lost her balance. I tried to catch her and she ended up pulling me down with her as we fell.

At this point we were reaching the landing zone at the bottom of the escalator. As we fell, Chad and Meghan fell over us and the people behind them fell over them, basically we caused a huge pile up at the bottom of the Piccadilly Circus escalator. During all of this Maureen’s sweater got caught in the escalator pulling her underneath the handrail. She’s not moving and the escalator was pulling her underneath crushing her. I’m screaming in the middle of the tube station, “Someone call 911!! What the hell is 911 in England?? 999!!! Someone call 999!!”

I was flipping out thinking she was going to be crushed to death. Meghan was trying to pull her out and shaking her. “Maureen wake up! You have to get up now Maureen. Now is not the time to fall asleep!” Chad was trying to climb over the mountain of people in the pile up to get to the emergency stop button. Finally he reaches it and stops the craziness. We stood over Maureen and pulled her out. She was crying and begging us to leave her there. We finally got her to her feet. Her sweater was completely ripped down the center with her bra sticking out. Meghan gave her jacket and we buttoned it up for her covering her up. She’s was in shock hysterical crying as we finally stepped on the last tube of the evening. She kept asking us the whole way home to repeat the story of how she fell down the escalator. Finally we got to our stop and Chad helped her walk the whole way home as I carried her purse. By this time Meghan had sobered up with the serious events and was patting her arm trying to stop her crying. We got back to the dorm and helped her to bed. I walked upstairs with Meghan and helped her to bed. Then I went back downstairs and found Chad and we went for a walk. As we climbed down the steps of the dorm back down to the lit streets of Kensington, I stopped him for a kiss and hugged him for all his efforts that evening. “So you got to meet my friends…Weren’t they great?” I said. He just laughed and said, “Well they definitely weren’t boring.”
